Sherri and her Border Collie "Switch"
Sherri Perkins became interested in dog training when she was very young. She always knew she’d be a dog trainer; she even used to tell people that! ? Sherri has been training for almost 30 years now. She has worked with aggressive and reactive dogs for 10 years, taught classes in Germany, South Carolina and Virginia. She has also trained with the Columbia SC Police Department! The first dog she ever trained was a little Spaniel mix named Bessie. Sherri currently has three dogs; an Aussie named Beep, an Aussie named Jet and a Border Collie named Switch.
Sherri has earned a number of obedience, tracking, herding and agility titles with multiple dogs. Sherri actually was the founding member of the Tidewater SC Tracking Club. She has also earned Schutzhund titles. Sherri has worked with virtually all breeds. The only breed she has not worked with is a Scottish Deerhound, but she would love to meet one! Sherri had several great mentors in dog training including Suzanne Clothier. She also has attended Chicken Camps with Bob and Marion Bailey. The best advice Sherri ever received regarding dog training was to watch your dog, they will tell you everything you need to know to help them. Sherri enjoys how in the moment dogs are; she wishes she could be more like that!
