KEN WOODS, CONDITIONING INSTRUCTOR
Ken became interested in dog training after starting to rehabilitate animals; Ken realized that a few basic behaviors can help the animal to ‘rehab’ without them even knowing it! Ken has many years of experience in small animal surgery with Board Certified Surgeons. Ken also completed the Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner Program (CCRP) at the Tennessee, Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. Ken is also the Director of Rehabilitation and Conditioning at Sumner Veterinary Hospital. The first dog Ken ever trained was a skinny English Cocker Spaniel named Gizmo. Ken and Gizmo took a class through the Parks and Recreation department of San Clemente, CA. Currently Ken has a German Shepard mix named Ruth, who is an active team member in rehab and a great example to his clients!
Ken has worked with most breeds in one way or another, from a 220 lb Mastiff to a 2.5 lbs Yorkie – be it assisting in surgery, rehabilitation, or a conditioning class. The best advice Ken ever got regarding dog training was to trust your dog! Ken enjoys seeing the owners and pets figure things out together, and the bonding that follows. The thing Ken enjoys most about dogs is that he can mess up their training and they just keep trying; they are just so forgiving.
