This class is six weeks in length, one hour per class session.

Puppy Kindergarten    (3-5 months)

The emphasis of this class is on basic pet manners, which includes focus and attention (name recognition), impulse control, crate skills, proper greetings (four on the floor), intro to sit, down, stay, come when called (recall) and much more.

Pet Obedience 1    (6 months and up)

This class is designed for dogs 6 months and older.  It is perfect for those who have not previously taken any classes, adopted dogs, or those starting later in life.  The priority is on basic obedience which includes focus and attention (name recognition), impulse control, crate skills, proper greetings, intro to sit, down, stay and much more.

Pet Obedience 2

Tired of being pulled around? Tired of not having Fido come when called? This class will help you become more successful in getting your dogs’ immediate focus and attention.  We will accomplish this through motivational and relationship building games.  Goal behaviors include recalls, loose leash walking and heeling with distractions.

AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC)

Train your pet the needed skills to be a reliable, well-behaved member of your family and community.  Our CGC classes are held during the year, as demand dictates. This is a six week class culminating in a CGC test.  This test is also available to the general public.

Examples of tasks include: putting toys or clothes in a basket, pushing doors closed and turning lights on or off.

Pet Dog Class FAQs

What do I need to bring to class?

A hungry dog, on a flat buckle or snap collar, and a regular (no flexi leads!) 4-6 foot leash.  Also, poop baggies, and lots of soft chewy training treats.  Throw in a notebook and writing utensil, as well as a couple of your dog’s favorite toys. These can all go in a small duffle or tote bag that you can bring to class each week.

What do I need to do before class?
Make sure that your dog is current on all of its vaccinations, and has what we call a ‘negative fecal exam’.  This means that your dog’s stool has been checked by a veterinarian and found to be clear of intestinal parasites.  This is especially important for puppies, who are prone to picking up intestinal parasites, since they are always sniffing and investigating things on the ground!

How do I pay?
You can call any time at 253-863-2258 to pay over the phone with any type of credit card.  If you are paying the day of class, please arrive early enough to take care of payment, potty your dog, and be ready to go when class starts.
