Sarah Baker, CPDT-KA

Sarah Baker teaches several Fun and Focus classes and is a very skilled and enthusiastic instructor, in addition to being a skilled and talented trainer!

Sarah Baker CPDT-KA

Sarah competes in agility with her Labrador Retriever, Rice, and also actively participates with a regional Service Dog Training Club.

Sarah has been training dogs since 1995 and teaching classes since 2000. Dog training is her passion and her profession, and she loves teaching others to train their dogs.

In addition to reading and watching dog training videos, Sarah continues her education by attending dog training conferences throughout the year. She is also an active member of the Assistance Dog Club of Puget Sound, where she helps fellow club members to train their own assistance dogs.

Sarah has two dogs. Her retired dog is Leland, a 9yr black lab and her current competition dog is Rice, a 2yr old yellow lab. Leland has his Rally Novice title (two 1st place w/100 pts & one 3rd w/98 pts) and Rice has his Rally Excellent title (took 1st place 7 times!). Currently Rice is in training to continue competing in agility. Rice just earned his Novice Jumpers Title and already has earned 4 blue ribbons! Sarah also enjoys teaching Rice “stupid dog tricks.” For example, if you ask him “what’s that smell?” he will turn and touch his butt!

This means we use positive reinforcement - clickers and verbal markers, as well as lots of treats! No pinch or prong collars are allowed on the premises, and harsh punishment and/or corrections are not tolerated.
